Have you always wanted to do portraits but don't know where to begin?  Do you already paint portraits but have trouble capturing a likeness?  Do you work from photographs but feel nervous about drawing people from life?  Are you already pretty good at this but would like to get better?  Would you just like to learn some traditional drawing techniques to improve your overall work?  If the answer is yes to any of these questions, consider signing up for my 7 DAY PORTRAIT DRAWING WORKSHOP, here in my studio in Baltimore, August 7- August 13.

As you draw the live model under the wonderful north-facing skylight in my studio, you will receive hands on instruction as part of an intimate class limited to 8 students.  Through a combination of demonstrations, slide lectures, and individualized critiques, you will learn to understand, see and draw the structure of the head, neck, and shoulders while simultaneously developing your perceptual acumen and technical skills.

Students are welcome to work in graphite or charcoal.  A detailed materials list will be provided.

I have taught hundreds of people to draw portraits over the course of the last 20 years, and over and over again I have seen that portraiture, like nothing else, motivates my students to hone their eye for accuracy, a skill that serves them for the rest of their lives as artists.  Please come and join me for this special workshop opportunity!
